Mangalore, Oct 25: A one-day token strike will be held by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on Friday October 27 to urge the government to meet their needs, stated a press release.

Some of the demands are introduction of second option on pension scheme, implementation of compassionate appointment scheme, stoppage of outsourcing and commencement of recruitment to fill the shortage of employees and officers in banks and others.

Bank officials and employees have been holding various demonstrations since October 5 urging the fulfilment of the demands but to no avail, the release stated.

The UFBU also opposed the attack on rights of the trade unions. The release also stated that the talks with IBA regarding these demands had failed and the strike was directed towards IBA and the government to urge them to fulfil the demands.
