Mangalore, Oct 25: An electrical short circuit in Lamina Suspension Pvt Ltd at Baikampady Industrial area near here resulted in major fire tragedy causing loss worth several lacs on Wednesday October 25 afternoon.

The fire broke out in the factory around 12 in the afternoon owing to short circuit.  A major generator was charred in the tragedy.  Since the generator had diesel in its store, fire brigade personnel found it extremely difficult to overpower fire.

Finally 3 fire engines managed to extinguish fire after putting in strenuous efforts for almost 3 hours.  By then the main generator had already been reduced to ashes.  Though loss has not yet been officially estimated, sources said that it may amount to several lacs.

Lamina Suspension Pvt Ltd is a sister concern of Lamina Group of Companies owned by noted educationist Vinay Hegde.
