Mangalore: Three arrested in Urwa Marigudi murder case

Mangalore, Oct 24: Urwa police have arrested three persons in connection with Urwa Marigudi murder case.

The arrested persons are Vishal Kumar (22), a resident of Mukka, Suratkal, Nithinraj Shetty (21), a resident of Pachanady, and Prajwal (19), a resident of Kodikal.

The body of a male was found lying near the steps of MCC Bayalu Ranga Mantapa opposite Urwa Marigudi Temple in the city on Thursday October 23 morning. The body was later identified as that of Nandakumar (48).

Police said that the attackers hit Nandakumar on his face and neck with a knife, rendering him unconscious. They then killed him by pounding his head with a heavy stone.

The police have also recovered the knife used in the crime.

According to sources, Nithinraj Shetty's grandfather Venkatesh was killed by Nandakumar two years back. Venkatesh was also killed by a heavy stone pounded on his head. To take revenge for his grandfather's death, Nitintraj conspired with his two other friends and took the extreme step of murdering Nandakumar.

Nandakumar, a rickshaw driver by profession was an alcoholic who had left his his wife and son years back and was staying in the pavements. Recently he had sold his  rickshaw due to his debts and started working as electrician and plumber. Nandakumar's only son Yakshith had died on October 6,2013 by drowning in Phalguni river. Yakshith was one of five children drowned  in the Phalguni river on the fateful day.

The arrest operation was conducted under the guidance of police commissioner R Hitendra, along with DCP K V Jagadish, DCP Vishnuvardhan and other police personnel.

    when you see These Young buds ,cant imagine how their parents allowed to come to this ?They look like they never stepped a School door.how sad to see them in a dissolate state.and get angry also to know they have killed a Person "because "they had some Problems with grad father.How illiterate it Looks and hears.Drill them to the utmost.let their fett reduce or give same Treatment to them as they give to the deceased.It reminds me of a woman was killed same way in kundapur.Face was with Stone grudged.were These also involved with it?ask them.useless youths.They will be doing career in murder in future.dont let them out.

    These young men have started their career as partners in crime , police should bind with stern sections of the law so that they find it unattractive to get a bail.A long sentence should deter them from returning back to crime.
