Three-day state level youth convention begins at Mysore

Mysore, Oct 24 : The Inauguration of three day Karnataka 9th Regional Youth Convention organized at St. Philomena College ground Mysore was held on 24 October 2014 with the theme ‘Joy of the Gospel to enlighten and Enliven’.

The convention started with solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Dr. Thomas Vazhapilly, bishop of Mysore, along with, Dr. Henry D’Souza Chairman of KRCBC youth commission, Fr George Nijaralakatt, Abp Elect, Thalaserry Diocese and other concelebrants.

The mega event was formally inaugurated by unveiling Indian, Vatican and KRCBC youth commission flags by the Karnataka Regional Executive members and the president of Mysore diocese.









































Recalling the service of Mother Theresa, Srinivas Prasad, Revenue Minister and Mysore District In charge Minister, said Christianity is the Light of World, it has given enormous service in the field of social and education service to the nation. Yuvajanotsava will definitely help the youth to build National Integrity and Inter-religious Harmony.

In his presidential address Bishop Henry spoke about the transforming leadership among Catholic youth. He said youth must get into political, civil and even agricultural fields to make a difference in our country. The dignity of labour, Life and respect to all religions must be inculcated among the youth. He gave a call to the youth to be leaders of hope not of despair.

Srinivas Prasad, Revenue Minister and Mysore District In charge Minister and M.N Somshekar MLA of Mysore were honoured at the occasion.

Antony Raj Diocesan Youth director Mysore, Sr Irene Tauro Joint secretary KRCBC Youth commission, Fr.K A Williaim, PRO, Fr. Leslie Moras Principal of St Philomina College ,Fr. Bernard Prakash Vice Principal, St. Philomina College .Mr. Martin Regional Youth President ,Mr. Anthony Robert Youth President Diocese of Mysore were present on the dias.

More than 1400 youths form 14 dioceses of Karnataka are participating in this youth convention. Mr Viyon Veigas and Maria compeered the programme. Fr Antony Raj Welcomed the gathering and Martin, proposed the vote of thanks.

    It is a great idea to hold conventions like these and encourage the younger generation to be the future leaders.

    The present day generation is well informed regarding their roles and with proper guidance should certainly be the future responsible citizens.

    It is expedient that they should be encouraged to take Government positions and qualify in The I.A.S. I.F.S. and I.P.S. cadres instead of taking up jobs and more than that there should not be cases of BRAIN DRAIN. Ivan D'Souza who was present at the meeting for instance is one who is A ROLE MODEL

    I am glad that The Religious leaders are playing their part in this direction.
