Mangalorean Sushant Shetty on London - Bangalore bike journey

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Oct 25: Sushanth Shetty, a native of Mangalore, is a brave youth with ambitious plans of adventurism. He wants to cover the 12,000 km distance between London and Bangalore by road on his motor bike alone in about 15 days!

Shetty's path-breaking journey is set to be flagged off on Saturday October 25 morning from London. He plans to traverse France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan, before reaching India.

Sushanth is the son of Jayanand Shetty from Bhavantakody House in Manjeshwar-Vorkady, and Ira Kenjila Rekha J Shetty couple. His parents are presently put up at Rajajinagar, Bangalore. Shetty, who pursued higher education in motor sports engineering in England, has now been serving UK Ford Company.

Sushanth has planned this trip on his own, and will be using Suzuki Hayabusa motor bike. He will pass through seven different time zones before reaching India. After entering Pakistan from Iran, he has to cover road for three days in that country. Although Pakistan is yet to grant him permission for this journey, Shetty hopes to get the permission soon. Once this is given, he plans to travel for two days with police escort of that country and stay for the nights at the police stations. If Pakistan refuses permission, he plans to undertake journey between Iran and Dubai by a ship, and again to India by another ship. It is gathered that all other necessary permissions have been granted for his journey through other countries.

Sushanth has tremendous interest in motor bike travel. He has travelled by motor bike to several countries, and has also negotiated rugged and hilly terrain of Himalayan roads by participating in car and motor bike races.

During the above travel, he will stay in different countries, and has availed of help from friends staying in various countries for this purpose. The distance between London and Indian border will be around 9,000 km and he will have to travel 3,000 km more from there to reach Bangalore.

Obtaining Pakistan clearance will be the biggest of all challenges along this long ride, if Sushanth has a British passport, that might come in handy, else he might have to resort to boat as planned.
