Karkala, Oct 26: The suicide attempt by an eloped couple in a lodge here in which the girl had died has taken a curious turn with girl's father filing a murder case against the boy in the Karkala town police station.
As reported earlier Harshita, daughter of Sridhar of Didupe near Beltangady and Jayaraj Naik who had eloped in June 2006 had attempted suicide in a lodge here. By the time they were admitted to the hospital Harshita had died while Jayaraj is still fighting for life in a hospital.
However Harshita's father Sridhar who had come here to take her body on Wednesday has filed a murder case against Jayaraj. In his complaint that he has stated that Jayaraj had kidnapped Harshita and kept her under house arrest for long time. He has accused Jayaraj also of raping Harshita and killing her by poisoning.
However, the sources said that Harshita and Jayaraj after eloping from their house had married in a temple at Belur and Harshita had kariamani in her neck at the time of dying.
