Mangalore: St Aloysius ITI celebrates Diwali

Mangalore, Oct 25: St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute (ITI) celebrated Diwali here on Wednesday October 22 at the ITI Auditorium, Mangalore.

Mangalore University professor Dr Subhashini was chief guest, ITI director Fr Eric Mathias SJ, professor Rupesh Kumar and Vinaya Kumari R were present on the occasion.

Prior to the ceremony, student Shashikanth briefed about the significance Diwali. Rupesh Kumar welcomed the guests while Dr Subhashini inaugurated the programme.

Dr Subhashini in her inaugural speech said, "We begin a programme by lighting a lamp. With the help of this light, let us all burn down our sins and start a new and better life. Let the light glow in your home and in your minds forever."

"This festival is a freedom festival for women. Let the harrasment of women stop today. Every man should promise that they will protect women from all sorts of problems," said Fr Eric Mathias.

Students of ITI performed a small skit and dances during the culutral programme. Anil, ITI student proposed the vote of thanks. Lakshmish compered the ceremony and professor Wilson N conducted the prayer service.
