Mangalore, Oct 26: The police have arrested a person in connection with the abduction and looting of a traveller near the railway station two months ago. A Maruti Omni vehicle used in the crime has also been seized.

The arrested has been identified as Santosh Kumar D’Silva (19) from St Joseph’s Nagar Jeppu, Mangalore.

On August 27, this year N Sajan from Kottayam was walking towards the railway station to catch a train to go back home. He was stopped by a white Maruti Omni and forced into the car.

The car had five people including Santosh Kumar who was driving. The gang took Sajan to a building under construction and stole his laptop, gold ring and other items. They also snatched his ATM card with which they withdrew Rs 27,000 later.

Sajan who did not remain in Mangalore after the incident later wrote a letter to the police commissioner and posted it. The police commissioner who took the issue seriously instructed the Pandeshwar police to pursue the matter.

On Saturday the police managed to nab one of the members of the gang Santosh Kumar, when he was driving the Maruti Omni with the number KA 19 M 8806 near the railway station. It is said that Santosh Kumar did not stop his car when the police signalled. The police chased the car and caught him.

Meanwhile Santosh Kumar D’Silva has admitted to the crime mentioned above. It is not known if he was involved in other crimes. Police are on the lookout for other suspects.

Don’t blame South Indian / North Indian,
    Religion / Community…… .chor is chor….
Crime is increasing in high speed now a days.

Loosing grip over Law & Order .
If you cannot control now, you can’t forever.

They are covering his face, so that when he comes out from the jail, he can roam like a gentleman without any shame. And people should not recognize his face & take care of themselves.

What a law ? When he comes out from jail once again he can continue his profession. !!

The Commissioner took the case just by a letter, this is really great. There are so many in the dept who do not take the case even after repeated visit to the police station. Hope all the people in dept will carry on like this.

Most importantly the credit goes to The Commissioner of Police for taking up the matter immediately and instituting inquiries and ordering Pandeshawar Police Station to follow up on the issue.

Kudos to the officer concerned for his immediate action which has resulted in the arrest of the concerned person. Undoubtedly the others too will get into the net.

First beating then inquiry. Get the others with help of this person who is caught, keep on giving him beating till the others are caught. Arrange for their arrest immediatly. Good job by cops they should be rewarded from the sale of the maruti and all their belonging, make them beggers, next time they will never rob again.
