Kundapur: Robbery of jeweller – main accused nabbed

Kundapur, Oct 30: Relating to the incident in which a Byndoor-based jeweller named Ganesh Shet was ambushed and robbed of jewellery items worth lacs of rupees at Ambagilu in Uppunda near Byndoor, the police have succeeded in arresting the main accused, Ravi Jattan. In this case, which occurred on the night of October 7 this year, four accused persons have already been arrested.

A gang of five had stopped Ganesh Shet, his son, Sudheendra Shet, and daughter, Divyashree, when they were returning home after business hours. The gang blinded the trio by throwing chilli powder at them, before snatching a bag containing gold jewellery items worth about Rs 12 lac.

A special police team formed under the directions of the district superintendent of police made this arrest. Shivaprakash, Chandrahas, Pradeep Poojary, and Durgadas Nittoor were arrested the very next day of the robbery by the police, but main accused, Ravi Jattan, had succeeded in evading the police. He was arrested from near Madikeri, it is learnt.
