Bangalore, Oct 30: The winter session of Karnataka Legislature will be held in the Suvarna Soudha in Belgaum during the second week of December.

An indication to this effect was given by Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah in Bangalore on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the Central study team deputed to study the drought situation in the State, Siddaramaiah has urged the Centre to release Rs 770 crore to take up relief works in 34 drought hit taluks in the State.

He said Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad had submitted a memorandum to the Centre seeking aid of Rs 770 crore under the National Disaster Recovery Funds (NDRF) norms in Delhi. The Central team led by K K Patak, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, visited flood hit areas in the State.

Floods in districts such as Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadagir, Raichur, Koppal, Bellary, Gadag, Bagalkot and Dharwad claimed lives of 24 people.

Rains damaged standing crops in over 88000 hectares and roads totalling 3680 kms. The State has sought Central relief of Rs 362 crore for flood-affected districts.
