Mangalore, Oct 30: With the state government assuring of pitching in the share of Mangalore City Corporation Rs 10 crore for the new vented dam at Thumbe, a fresh lease of hope has emerged.

After a dilly-dallying for several years, the Rs 40 crore projects for constructing a second vented dam to end water crisis in Mangalore has finally found the required amount of money.

According to the earlier plan, the government would contribute Rs 30 crore and the remaining amount of Rs 10 crore was to be raised by MCC. With MCC expressing inability to raise this sum, the entire cost of the dam will now be borne by the state government.

The government will also release Rs 1 crore toward conducting a feasibility study of the proposed sky-bus facility for Mangalore.
