Bangalore, Nov 1: Premalata and Diwakar Shastri couple, who have registered rape case against spiritual head of Ramachandrapur Math, Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji, have filed complaints in Banashankari police station in the city as well as criminal investigation department (CID) here, alleging that they have received life threats from underworld criminal, Kali Yogesh.
Kali Yogesh reportedly called the couple to warn them to withdraw the complaint they have lodged against the Swamiji. 'You have the audacity to file case against the Swamiji, who has been serving the society well? I hereby warn you to enter into a compromise with the Swamiji and withdraw the case. Otherwise you will be eliminated,' he is said to have stated.
While Diwakar Shastri filed complaint in Banashankari police station in the city, Premalata approached CID police. Diwakar said he received calls from three different telephone numbers between 11.50 am to 11.55 am. He picked the third call, he explained. 'The first call came from telephone no. 40523102622, the second one from 88628305770, while the last one which I he picked, had come from 85690766449,' he explained, adding that the call lasted 21 minutes.
It is said that the caller who introduced himself as Kali Yogesh, questioned Shastri as to how can a woman be raped 90 times, reasoning that without mutual consent, a lady cannot be raped for so many times. He said he knows about the 'leather trade' being run by Shastri, and about the address of the trade's New Delhi centre. The call ended with threats of dire consequences in case the complaint is not taken back, Shastri narrated.
Premalata said she got the call at about 11.45 from number 301, when she was in the presence of CID officials. She handed over her cell phone to CID officials, who heard the caller for sometime before asking him to come to CID office, after which the call got snapped, it is said. Premalata immediately filed a complaint in CID office.
The policemen have begun investigation.
