Mangaluru, Nov 3: Both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts bathed in thunder showers on Sunday November 2 evening. The rain cooled temperature. On Monday morning, the city was enveloped in milky mist.

While the city received light rain along with thunder and lightening, good rain was reported from Puttur and Moodbidri. Sampaje and Beltangady got copious rain, while Sullia in comparison, recorded less rain. Bantwal, Mulky, Ullal, etc received some rain.

Heavy rain inflicted losses to people in Hiriyadka in Udupi taluk and surrounding areas. Strong wind caused uprooting of electric poles and huge trees at Panchanabettu and nearby places near Hiriyadka. Umesh Poojary from Pelathur was hospitalized after lightning struck him. Lightning also caused damage to the cattle shed of Appu Naik in Sanekallu village. Tiles of houses were blown away. Electrical equipments owned by Devendra Nayak in Panchanabettu suffered damages due to lightning.

Local panchayat presidents visited the spots of damage and assessed the damage. They promised the concerned of making efforts to get compensation from the government.
