Bengaluru, Nov 6 (DHNS): Minister for Health and Family welfare U T Khadar on Wednesday took an accident victim to hospital in his car.
The minister, who was on his way back from the Kempegowda International Airport, noticed a traffic jam on Yelahanka flyover. An auto driver, Stalin, a resident of K G Halli, was severly injured as his auto had toppled.
He immediately took the injured in his car to hospital. “We thought of taking him to Columbia Asia Hospital. However, we rushed him to K C General Hospital so as to reduce financial burden on him,” Khadar said.
This is the second time that the health minister has helped an accident victim reach hospital in time in his car. A similar incident had taken place a few months ago when the minister, who was on his way to an iftar party at the Palace Grounds, had lent a helping hand to a couple.
Khadar pays up fine for using English in WhatsApp group on Rajyotsava day

Mangaluru, Nov 5: M Friends, a WhatsApp group, levied a fine of Rs 330 on state minister for health, U T Khadar, for failing to stick to the condition that all messages sent through this group on Rajyotsava day should be compulsorily in Kannada. He paid a fine of Rs 330 through the administrator of the group, and judges.
M Friends, which has been active in the city and surrounding areas in the field of creating awareness about health besides serving ailing patients at hospitals, decided to celebrate Rajyotsava in a unique way. The group wanted all its members to use Kannada that day, with the condition that failure to do so will attract fine of Rs 10 per word. Anyone using a language other than Kannada between 8 am and 10 pm that day was to be penalized this way. Khadar was fined for sending an advertisement that had appeared in English through this group.
Administrator of the group, Rashid, had nominated two judges for deciding on the fine. Fines were collected even for contents of photos or videos forwarded by the members. The group collected a total of Rs 13,650 that day. After one of the members contributed Rs 1,350, the collection went up to Rs 15,000.
With the amount collected, the group plans to provide Kannada literary books worth Rs 15,000 to 'Snehadeep', an NGO involved with looking after HIV/AIDS affected children. Last year too such an initiative had been undertaken, and the amount collected as fine was donated towards medicines supplied through a health camp held at Vogga in Bantwal taluk.
