Puttur: Five booked for belittling Islam

Puttur, Nov 6: Five persons including president of Puttur block Congress unit, have been accused of speaking derisively about Islam and making contemptuous remarks on taluk panchayat member, Zohara Nissar. Zohara, in his police complaint, had charged these five persons of passing unsolicited remarks during a press conference they had held sometime back, to criticize Zohara.

Zohara had said that certain remarks made by the people who addressed the said press conference were disdainful, of poor taste, and the religion to which she belongs was spoken ill of without having proper knowledge about it. The policemen have booked cases against block Congress president, Kalavati Gowda, Swarnalata Hegde, Jayanthi Balnad, Zohara, and Jayalaxmi Suresh, who had participated in the press conference.
