Kundapur: 45-year-old Woman ends life by jumping into lake

Kundapur, Nov 6: A woman has ended her life by jumping into a lake in Koni near Kundapur.


Vimala Ganiga(45) is the deceased. The incident took place at a lake situated behind the milk dairy in Koni village.

Vimala, wife of late Dananjaya Ganiga was working as a cooking maid at Morarji Desai residential school in Koteshwara. It is said that recently she was transferred to Udupi.














The dead body of the deceased was found on Thursday morning at the lake.

Reasons for the suicide are not known yet. Kundapur police have registered the case.

    Look at the above pictures, on one side lush paddy fields ready for harvesting which a feast for eyes and on the other a suicide scene which perhaps no eyes want to see. I sincerely suggest for those who want to commit suicide to share your problems with others as our Mangalore is full of people and NGO's who are ready to extend an helping hand. God the almighty is our creator and only he has the right to take away our lives.

    Looks like this woman did not have a child and after the death of her husband, might have felt, no use living, loss of hope, helplessness and loneliness. If she had a child to love, I think, this would not have happened. "Do not call a man wretched, whatever the ills he may possess, but, has a child to love." An old saying. Also, at 45, around which age, a woman's hormone production declines, could impact this. As told by Kusuma Kumari, timely counseling could have saved her, but looks like she did not have anybody to take her to that center. Feel very sad for her.

    Many woman now a days suffer from depression, Timely counselling can save these women. I feel very sad when I hear a news of suicide
