Udupi, Nov 7: BJP Yuva Morcha, Udupi district, held a massive protest seeking justice in the suspicious death of Nandita Theerthahalli at 4.30 pm near Clock Tower, Service Bus Stand.

Sheela K Shetty, president, Mahila Morcha, said, “The home minister should prove himself by revealing the truth in the case. The police department must divulge the names of the accused persons. Rigid punishment must be meted out and only then can the department protect the nation from such activities”. She also condemned the violence against MP Shobha Karandlaje.

Raghupathi Bhat, former MLA, Udupi, said, “There is no need to politicize Nandita’s death”. He demanded that the investigation be handed over to the CBI and criticized the attitude of home minister K J George.

Vilas Nayak, president, district BJP Yuva Morcha, alleged that the case took an unpredictable twist only due to political influence. He said that there were 21 sexual harassment cases registered in the state in just two weeks and added that a CBI investigation was more convincing.

The party demanded that Rs 20 lac be given as compensation to Nandita’s family. Shyamala Kundar, state secretary, Uday Kumar Shetty, Kota Srinivasa Poojary, MP, Monappa Bhandary, state legislative council, Sheesha Nayak, vice-president, Prathap Shetty Manipal, and Sumaith Kaudoor were among those present.
