Mangaluru, Nov 7: “The Indian Coast Guard's Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs) H-196 and H-198 will be commissioned on Monday November 10 by Karnataka governor Vajubhai Vala. IG SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM Commander Coast Region (West) will be present," said Rajamani Sharma, deputy inspector general of Indian Coast Guard and commander of Coast Guard in Karnataka.
Addressing a press meet at the Coast Guard centre station district headquarters here on Friday November 7, he said, "The Indian Coast Guard ship 'Samudra Prahari' is the first vessel in the country to be fitted with the latest pollution control equipment which was commissioned from Visakhapatnam. 'Samudra Paheredar' is the second pollution control vessel commissioned from Gujarat," he said.
He also said that the third pollution control vessel ‘Samudra Pavak' will be stationed very soon.
He further said that newly commissioned patrol surveillance vehicle ‘Amartya’ to be stationed at Mangalore will approach Mangalore coast tomorrow. This will undertake multifarious tasks like surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue and medical evacuation. 'Amartya', 'Amal' and C-410 were commissioned from Goa.
Anupam Rai, commanding officer of coast ship 'Rajdooth', Kailash Negi DIG of coastal guard and others were present.
