Holy Cross church organizes football and lagori tournament

Mangaluru, Nov 12: Holy Cross church Cordel, Kulshekar had organized Football and Lagori tournament for PUC and below age category on November 8, 2014 at Cordel church grounds. The event was inaugurated by Fr Valerian Pinto, the parish priest of Kulshekar Church by unveiling the trophies.

The guests present were E Fernandes,Four Winds Communications, vice president of the Cordel parish Praveen Patrao, secretary Michael D’Souza, Sushil Noronha, convener of Youth and Cultural Committee, Alan D’Souza and Sweeny D’Silva, president and secretary of Young Christian Students association.

Fr Anil Lobo prayed for the success of the programme. Melwin Fernandes YCS, Animator Compered the programme.
































Under the slogan ‘PLAY FOR MISSION’ youth of Cordel, Kulshekar organized football and lagori for the PUC and below category. There were 20 teams from different parishes for football and 17 teams for lagori tournament. Football was for boys and lagori was for girls. It was a mixture of both international and local games. All congratulations go to YCS members of Cordel parish for organizing this colorful event.

In the football match Bendur Parish team became victorious at the end of the tournament. Gurpur parish team which played against Bendur in the finals was declared runners in Football tournament. In Lagori tournament Cordel Parish team won the Winners trophy and Ashoknagar parish team was runners in the lagori tournament. Player of the tournament award was rewarded to Allan Rasquina from Bendur and Rachel Crasto from Cordel in the football and lagori respectively.

YCS members of Cordel worked in a mission spirit and donated rupees 25,000.00 towards Pope Francis’ missionary work. Rainal Sequeira and Roshni Goveas compeered the program.
