Delhi, Nov 8: After a disappointing campaign in the Champions Trophy, there's more bad news for the Indian Cricket team.

According to their former Physio Andrew Leipus, Yuvraj Singh may now miss next year's World Cup in the West Indies.

Yuvraj suffered a freak accident during the Champions Trophy, and may take as long as six months to regain full fitness.

Yuvraj hobbled off the field in Mohali after a seemingly harmless game of kho-kho.

"That's a ruptured ligament in the knee. It's a very important ligament and would generally be reconstructed. Hasn't been done yet because he requires a period of time to heal some of the bruising that's there in the knee as well.

"But that's going to take him five-six months to fully rehabilitate and start playing again," said Andrew Leipus, former physio, Indian Cricket Team.

Glimmer of hope

However, Leipus did leave a glimmer of hope for the Indian fans and for Yuvraj.

The World Cup is improbable but not impossible provided the rehabilitation plan is successful given that a former India player Akash Chopra managed a full recovery in about four months.

"He will be a 100 per cent. Aakash Chopra was also operated upon by Dr Anant Joshi, and he can be back in four-five months. So there is always an opportunity. He just has to stay positive and listen carefully to what the rehab staff tell him," said Leipus.

Though Yuvraj has got a good chance of making it back to the team before the World Cup, he'll have to be mentally tough in order to gain the maximum from his rehabilitation programme.
