‘Alvas Tulusiri-2014’ inaugurated at Alvas college premises

Mangaluru, Nov 15: Dr D Veerendra Heggade inaugurated 'Alvas Tulusiri-2014' organized by Alvas Education Foundation in collaboration with Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy at Alvas College premises here on Friday, November 14.

After inaugurating the programme, Dr D Veerendra Heggade in his address said "Culture and tradition of Tulunadu is always special and unique. Contribution of the Tuluvas to society is immense through banking, commerce, medical and educational institutions. Tuluvas are always blessed. We should be always proud of our cultural heritage. In contemporary scenario, we cannot practice what our forefathers did. But we have to put effort to preserve the culture and tradition of this land. Tuluvas have grown in various fields”.










Dr Vivekrai in his address said, "The contributions of Yakshagana artistes, theatre actors and Paddana singers have kept this language alive".

District In-Charge minister B Ramanath Rai presided over the programme.

State minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Abaychandra Jain, Capt Ganesh Karnik, Amarnath Shetty, Umanath Karkera, M Janaki Bhramavar, Chandrahas Rai, Harikrishna Punarooru among others were felicitated.

Dr Palthadi Ramakrishna Achar, Dr Vaman Nandavar, Bola Chtharanjandas Shetty, Aruva Koraggappa Shetty, VG Pal, Umesh Pambadha, Korapolu Naraje, Jayanthi S Bangera, Devdas Kapikad, Shivappa Nalike were felicitated for their immense contribution for Tulu language.
