Bengaluru, Nov 18: It is a year since the brutal attack on Corporation Bank Manager Jyothi Uday took a place inside an ATM kiosk in Bengaluru.

Jyothi Uday (45) was attacked with a machete by the unknown attacker inside the Corporation Bank ATM kiosk on JC Road in Bengaluru. Jyothi Uday was found in a pool of blood inside the kiosk three hours after the attack.

The culprit had used the card he had robbed from his victim in Andhra Pradesh, at the ATM kiosk in Bengaluru. Somehow, he could not withdraw money even after trying a couple of times. Then he waited for another victim outside the kiosk. When Jyothi Uday entered the kiosk, he attacked her with a machete.

After the incident, he headed straight to Hindupur and sold Jyothi’s mobile phone to a shopkeeper. Though the phone was seized, nothing much could be extracted in connection with his whereabouts.

And even after completion of a year since the attack took place, no arrest has been made yet. The only breakthrough in the case is the revelation about the attacker by the police that the attacker is a Telugu-speaking man with a height of 5’6.

Police had also learned within days of the attack that the same attacker had killed a woman for gain in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, just 10 days before the attack on Jyothi Uday.

The Bengaluru police had announced Rs 2-lakh reward for any information about the attacker.

The final report in the case has not yet been submitted to the court.

Now it is learnt that the police will start the probe afresh with available leads in the case. Security even inside the so called secured ATM kiosk in not guaranteed in Karnataka.
