Udupi, Nov 18: On behalf of centenary celebration of our lady of health church Shirva, a bible quiz at Udupi diocese level was held on November 16, 2014 at Don Bosco hall, Shirva.
The registration started in the morning. 20 teams from various parishes of Udupi diocese were present. The love for the word of god was seen in the participants as they had travelled all the way from every corner of Udupi diocese.
The preliminary round in the form of written quiz started at 10:30 am, and top 6 winning team of preliminary round were selected for the final round. The top 6 participants for final round were from Karkala town, Padukone, Mudarangadi, Pangala, Pethri and Shirva.
The most eagerly awaited part of the quiz - The final round started at 2:30 pm after lunch, and was conducted in 7 levels. The clergy members of Our lady of health church, Shirva were the animators for the quiz. The rounds were interesting and were conducted using various modern tools and techniques. The enthusiastic participants and audience made this evening truly a spiritual one.
Gilbert pinto was the MC for the program and Venissa D’souza conducted the audience round and successfully involved the audience also in the event.
The winners of the event were
· Our lady of health church, shirva – 1st place
· St.Peter’s church, pethri – 2nd place
· St.john evangelist church, pangala- 3rd place
The winners of the event were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10000/-, Rs. 7000/-, Rs. 5000/- respectively. All the participants were awarded a participation certificate.
The conclusion program was held after the event. Vicar geralMjr. Baptist menezes presided over the program, Fr Stanytauro, the parish priest of shirva, Fr Wilson lobo and Fr Jeraldd’mello, the assistant parish priests, Fr Simaofernandes, rector, DBYC shirva, Sr Hilda, Sr BrigitMadtha, Wilson D’souza, presidentof Parish council, William Machado, secretary of Parish council were present at the event.
It was a day of togetherness for parishioners ofShirva , as the youth units of the parish -YCS,SSVP and ICYM joined hands together in fellowship to make this event a grand success.
