Kasargod, Nov 21: The Kerala government has ordered that the murder case of Abhilash (15), a class ten student of Hosadurg Higher Secondary School, be handed over to the crime branch. Locals suspect that there may be the involvement of more people in the crime.

Two classmates of the deceased who were arrested in connection with the murder have been produced in juvenile court which has remanded them in judicial custody for two weeks.

The police have got information that among the two boys arrested, the older one, aged 17 years, was involved in crimes. He was accosted by the public for harassing a young girl and released after being warned. It is also said that the boy had several vices. The police are gathering further information about the accused.

There were calls for protests on Thursday November 20 in the Left wing-dominated Kanhangad and Ajanoor panchayat areas against the murder of Abhilash and urging the arrests of the suspects. While many shops remained closed, others were forced to down their shutters.
