Kundapur, Nov 23: Three CCTs (ticket checkers) are said to have assaulted a bus conductor of Durgamba Motors at Siddapur in Kundapur taluk on Thursday November 20. The conductor has been identified as Surendra (31).

Surendra, an experienced conductor and bus agent has been employed with Durgamba Motors for the last seven years. It is said that some people working as CCT have been harassing Surendra on trivial issues while issuing tickets and complaining about him to the owner. Though he had raised this issue with the owner and CCTs, they had asked him to keep quiet.

Surendra was in the bus plying from Kundapur to Edamoge on Thursday evening. Allegedly, he was waylaid by Kalligudde resident Santhosh, Mullugadde resident Naveen, and Kandlooru resident Jayakar, abused with filthy language, pushed to the ground, and his life threatened.

The owner of the bus has taken no action in the matter. Allegedly, three or four conductors who had prepared to protest against the incident by blocking the bus, have been terminated from service. Surendra, who has injuries on chest, hands, and legs and the rest of his body, is undergoing treatment at Kundapur Government Hospital.
