Udupi: 70-year-old dies after falling from speeding bus

Udupi, Nov 25: Narayana (70), fell from a bus at Cherkadi Cross in Cherkadi grama, Brahmavara, on Monday November 24 at 5 pm and died of injuries. He was a resident of Badabettu, Cherkadi grama.

It is said that the bus was going too fast and the deceased who was standing near the front door as there were no seats, lost his balance and fell on the road. He injured his head and was rushed to Mahesh Hospital but died at 9.05 pm without responding to treatment.

Raviraj (21), his son, has lodged a complaint at Brahmavar police station and a case has been registered.

    very sad.nowadays seats for old or sick,pregnent women are hardly given or just ignored.Even conductors are not intersted to do anything.even when they try they ingnored or they are afraid of asking.many will be aggressive.when bus is running fast or apply brake suddenly it happens.Poor man.may his Soul rest in peace.heartfelt sympathy to the Family.

    Very sad,Yes U r right Ms.Rita, Not no one, sitting woman don't give s seat to old and pregnant women. They just glance out through the window to avoid offering seat. In such cases Male passengers are more liberal. It is my experience

    It is very sad to see that the seats reserved for senior citizens in the buses in Mangalore are occupied by others. During my stay in Mangalore I have noticed that even the conductor does not bother when others occupy senior citizen seats. On one occassion I requested a person to vacate the senior citizen seat but that person told me ' aar unthad ye, aareg daani unthareg' This is our attitude towards senior citizens. No wonder they are forced to stand in crowded buses and risk their lives.
