Mangaluru, Nov 26: Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI (M) held a protest in front of Mangaluru DC office for the immediate arrest of the city-based advocate, A C Jayaraj, and his associates, relating to diversion of insurance money by providing a bank with fake records that were created by using forged signatures and seals of the city sessions judge on Wednesday November 26.

Addressing the protest, Vasanth Achari of CPI (M) said, “The Constitution has guaranteed each individual the right to live. But for some high standard people, law is not applicable. Court has become active but the police department has become inactive. Janardhan Poojary is not talking about this issue because he is one of the Congress members. A C Jayaraj is running freely in the city as police are not arresting him even though he has been issued with arrest warrant. Congress party does not have shame as they are still keeping him in the party. We respect the police department only if they do their work honestly".

Sunil Kumar Bajal, secretary of CPI (M), alleged, “It is a shameful thing to call A C Jayaraj as an advocate. He is a disgrace to the world. Almost six months are over and he is still not arrested. Police and lawyers are all one and the same. They work for their benefits rather than helping the needy ones. It is clear that the police are protecting A C Jayaraj. If a person commits crime and he is not caught, his brother or any family member will be arrested. Same should be done in this case. A C Jayaraj's brother corporator A C Vinayaraj should be arrested".

"Ramanath Rai and Janardhan Poojary do not talk about this issue. They are trying to protect him. Congress party is instigating the society to commit crime", he further alleged.

Balakrishna Shetty district secretary, Padmavathi Shetty and Vasudev Uchil among others were also present for the protest.
