Bengaluru, Nov 28: Former Karnataka minister, Janardhana Reddy, who is involved with a long-drawn legal battle to secure his release from the jail, succeeded in getting conditional bail in a third case out of four registered against him relating to the illegal export and disappearance of iron ore from Belekeri port near Karwar. As he has some more cases to face, Reddy will continue to be in jail for the time being.

On Thursday, Vijayanagara MLA, Anand Singh, also secured bail. He is likely to be released on Friday. With him, 13 others including Reddy, Kampli MLA, Suresh Babu, Swastik Nagaraj, deputy conservator of forests, Muttaiah, too got bail. However, none of them except Anand Singh would be released because of pending cases. The conditions of bail included remitting security deposits of ten lac rupees each, condition not to meet the witnesses or try to influence them, surrender of passports to the court, two sureties, and regular appearance for hearings.

Janardhana Reddy faces eight cases relating to iron ore mining, including Associated Mining Company, Obalapuram Mining Company, Belekeri export case etc. He has already secured bail in three cases, and the fourth one is coming up for hearing in Supreme Court on Friday. Even if the Supreme Court grants bail, he will continue to be in Parappana Agrahara jail here, as other cases are in different stages of hearing.
