Kundapur, Nov 28: The thieves broke into a house belonging to Lakshman Rao on Thursday evening and stole silver items.

Lakshman Rao's house is situated near Chikkamma Daiva Mane. He has a mobile shop at Koteshwar and comes late everyday with his son after closing the shop. His wife also went to Kalavara temple in the evening to attend a puja.

The thieves entered the house during this time by breaking the main door. They also broke open the steel cupboard. Then they put the things in the house in untidy position when they did not find any valuables worth to steal. Ultimately they went with a silver plate and 5 silver lamps kept at the prayer room.

The occupants of the house only discovered about the theft at 9.20 pm when they returned home.

Police personnel visited the site immediately upon information and swung into action.

The police later questioned a person who was moving suspiciously in town . The person is said to be living in a makeshift tent in the town. The suspect during the questioning, tried to run away. With the help of onlookers, the police managed to arrest the person. Investigations are going on.
