Bengaluru, Nov 29: A nun fell to her death after slipping from the third floor of an under-construction building in the premises of the school, early on Friday November 28 morning.

Sr Noella (58) is the person deceased.

The incident happened at the Nirmala Rani Convent School at 17th cross Malleswaram in Bengaluru city. Sr Noella worked as headmistress of the school's primary section.

A native of Kolar, Sr Noella had gone for a morning walk within the convent premises at 5 am. As per the information available, she used to inspect the progress of the building where new classrooms were being constructed.

Police sources said that circumstantial evidence suggested that the nun had fallen into the stairwell from the third floor of the building. The death might have been caused by internal concussion.

One of the construction workers housed next to the site found the nun lying on the ground when he stepped out to brush teeth in the morning.

Malleswaram police have registered a case of unnatural death. Police have ruled out any foul play. They are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.

Later in the evening when Sr Noella's body arrived at Nirmalarani school, hundreds of people gathered at the school to pay their last respects. Sr Noella was a popular teacher among her students and their parents.
