Language policy to be revealed soon: Kimmane

Mangaluru, Nov 30: Minister for Primary and High School Education Kimmane Ratnakar has said that language policy related to medium of instruction will be made known within two months.

He was speaking during the occasion of a debate on the state of education organized by Samadarshi Vedike, Mangaluru and University Kannada Sangha in Mangaluru on November 29.




Kimmane said that a survey will be done to know about the language policies in the neighbouring states of Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The state policy will be based on the survey done in these states.

Kimmane also added that the Karnataka chief minister has written letters to all chief ministers of the nation to know about their views on the amendments to be made to language policies of states where it is mandatory to learn the language of the state.

The minister said a dialogue will also be held with Kannada Sahithya Parishath on December 4 on the same issue.

The issues discussed during the debate were submitted to the minister. Dr B A Vivek Rai, Dr B Srinivasa Kakkilaya, CH Krishna Shastri Balila and Sukumara Gowda participated in the debate among others.
