Kuwait: 'Gulf Udyoga Ratna' Award to be Conferred on B R Shetty

Kuwait, Nov 20: Well-known NRI entrepreneur, philanthropist, sports promoter and chairman of New Medical Centre Bavaguttu Raghuram Shetty has been bestowed with  the first-ever 'Gulf Udyog Ratna' award by United Associations of Karnataka - Kuwait (UAKK) comprising of 13 noted associations of Karnataka origin based in Kuwait.

While releasing this news to daijiworld.com, the conveners have said, "Dr B R Shetty has been very supportive towards the community specially towards Mangalorean community. Through his business units NMC, UAE Exchange and other worldwide groups he has given priority to the community members. Thousands of community members are employed in his companies. He truly deserves this award 'Gulf udyog Ratna'".

B R Shetty was instrumental in mobilizing governmental backing for Mangalore airport to get international flights and also he is supporting the cause of other foreign destinations to be connected to Mangalore.

B R Shetty has confirmed his presence at UAKK's Suvarna Karnataka Celebrations on November 24, 2006 in Kuwait.

Apart from B R Shetty, many other prominent leaders are expected to attend the event. Indian Ambassador to Bahrain Balakrishna Shetty, three MLAs from Belgaum and Dharwad and Rajesh Sequiera, convener of Karnatak NRI Forum from Dubai are the other prominent leaders who will attend the event.

UAKK is a prominent umbrella organization which leads social causes back home as well as in Kuwait. The organization comprises of 13 respectable organizations listed below:
