Mangaluru, Dec 4: The police here have received a complaint alleging that the driver of a truck,who had been entrusted with a delivery of 221 bags of areca nut valued at Rs 44.15 lac to a destination in Gujarat, has fled with the stock, defrauding the senders of the consignment as well as the transport company.

The said bags had been sent to Gujarat through Naraynji Peraji Transport Company functioning at J M Road, Bunder here. The consignment was to be delivered at Ahmedabad. Manager of the transport company, Mahendrabhai Lal Pador, had sent the bags of areca nut through a truck to be delivered to the company's office in Ahmedabad. The truck had left the city at 9 pm on November 22, it is said.

The complainant has given the name of the truck driver as Mohanlal Rajgor. The driver, who was entrusted with papers relating to the stock of areca nut and cash advance, vanished with the truck and areca nut load, it is alleged.

The manager of the company has filed a case of betrayal of trust and fraud against the truck driver. The police have registered a case and begun investigation.
