VGST grants for institutions, awards for young scientists

Bengaluru, Dec 6: Karnataka’s Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), constituted by the State Government in 2008 under the Chairmanship of eminent scientist Bharat Ratna Prof C N R Rao, has selected 84 higher educational institutions for special grants and 65 young scientists for special awards during the year 2014-15.

The main objective of VGST is to implement programmes for the advancement of Science and Technology education and research by providing grants to young researchers, educational institutions.

VGST is the only agency in the state dedicated to support basic research and education in the field of science and engineering. It has provided financial support to the extent of Rs 110 crore for more than 300 educational institutions and 185 young scientists, according to an official press release.

VGST has selected 84 Higher Educational Institutions & 65 Young Scientists for the year 2014-15:
