Mangaluru, Dec 8: The protest by VHP, Bajrang Dal and other pro-Hindu organizations ended amid stone-pelting and with police refusing to allow the protestors into Ulaibettu where Section 144 has been imposed.

It is also learnt that four policemen were injured while they tried to control the mob.

Speaking to media persons, police commissioner R Hitendra said that the police plan to impose Section 144 and stop the protestors from entering Ulaibettu was successful as it helped in preventing the situation from worsening.

The police have arrested two buses full of protestors, but the exact number of arrests will be ascertained later, said the polic commissioner. He also added that that they would be booked under relevant sections.

He further said that as of now, the protest has ended and the situation is under control. He also said that there was no connection between the stabbing incidents on Sunday December 7 and this issue.

Earlier, the protestors tried to gatecrash into Ulaibettu where Section 144 has been imposed, but were stopped by the police.

When the protestors refused to back down, the police resorted to lathi charge.

The angry protestors demanded that they be allowed to enter Ulaibettu, even as leader Jagadish Shenava tried to calm them down in vain.

The situation threatened to go out of hand when stones were pelted, but it is not clear if it was done by protestors or other locals against the protest.

The police then ushered some of the protestors including Satyajit Suratkal intobuses. Shenava too urged the protestors to get into the buses to avoid being hit by stones.

Satyajit claimed that they had planned a peaceful protest, but some miscreants had resorted to stone-pelting from a hillock and created trouble.

Sources said that a woman was injured in the stone pelting and taken to hospital.

Buses were also damaged in the incident.

As the protest seemed to be getting out of hand, Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell asked everyone to disperse and return to their homes.

The protest then came to an end and the crowd began to disperse.

Mangaluru, Dec 8: Hundreds of activists of VHP, Bajrang Dal and other pro-Hindu organizations gathered at Vamanjoor here on Monday December 8 and took out a rally to protest against the attack on Datta Peetha pilgrims on the night of December 5.

Addressing the protestors, Sri Rajashekarananda Swamiji said, "I being a Swami join in this protest and extend my support. Today the police have imposed Section 144, but where were they when Hindus were attacked? The culprits should be arrested by today."

The protest is being held under tight security.

Mangaluru, Dec 8: Gurpur, Ulaibettu and surrounding areas have completely shut down on Monday December 8 in response to the call for bandh given by VHP and Bajrang Dal to protest against the attack on Datta Peetha pilgrims on the night of December 5.

The police have imposed Section 144 from 6 am to 6 pm, and tight security has been deployed in the sensitive areas.

Despite the security, miscreants pelted stones and damaged at least three vehicles, including two buses.

A Rajahamsa bus was stoned at Yedapadavu and at Bajpe, Fathima bus was damaged.

A government truck from Bengaluru was also damaged. Its driver, identified as Joy, said that he had parked the truck when some people came and pelted stones. He too sustained minor injuries.

Sources said that miscreants attempted to set fire to a bakery, but in vain.

Tyres were burnt in various places like Kaikamba and others.

Shops have shut down and most people preferred to stay indoors. Some of the private buses have supported the bandh by staying off the roads.

Police in Vamanjoor said that the situation is under control.

its really amazing to see how these BD,RSS and others are slowly spilling poison in the name of hindutva.
You can see in these photos these woman (housewives) how they are also involved in the act.
BJP on one side says about hindutva but later poses with photos with Muslims.
If they can really do Let them build the ayodhya temple they have full majority and can now convert to hindutva.
Why are these silently ruining the life of others.
Only thing is that thse BD and RSS people cannot digest the fact that state is led by congress that is why these people are doing all these.

The agenda of BJP is next to get into power by hook or crook

Protest for Jobs, corruption and citizen security!!So many youths are jobless even after being educated..Young youth are committing suicide due to peer pressure, try to get solution for all this..Damaging public property and creating bandh. Think about the travelers from different places visiting Mangalore or Pilgrims.. Mangalore was always known for its mixed culture, but we are ruining it. Think of rising the economy and not by destroying it. Try to protest for a clean city with good roads and traffic rules. Do something which is useful and acceptable by the society and dont take law in your hands. We are not born as Hindus, Muslims or Christians. Gods ultimate and best creation is we "HUMANS" and if we cannot respect the ultimate creation how will we ever respect God in first place.
When there is a massive accident, natural disaster not even a single soul goes on protest to give rights to the victims and their family. Govt Schools, hospitals have become stables, no one protests for its improvements. Religion has only thought us to divide and never unite. I dont think any Religion in this world teaches VIOLENCE. If so, then its not a religion.

earlier theses same guys went to gangolli in Kundapur on two days wage and they brought them to mangaluru for a day including TA & DA perks, the difference is in Gangolli we heard this guys telling the crowd we are ready to give our life for the sake of Hindu's and in managaluru they even not ready to stand for the lati and I heard the people like tejaswini gowada, shenava and other leaders started peace mantra and left the spot without knowing to other protesters and gathered at managluru in a safe heaven far away from the protest place.

if Kundapur ploice has done the same or the earlier in mangaluru they daily wage workers would have not came to this stage where they dont need to sweat and gets full day wage with biryani and drinks, same goes to all the like minded organisations in both the community whose ideology is accredited by 7% and rejected by 93%. But one thing is noticeable in this incident that….when CONGiss was not in power there was no problem with VHP or BD though many people so called fake and pretended intellectual people called BJP Govt favoured VHP or BD always but at least our region was peaceful accept some cattle theft issues, love jihad and conversion business. But now these mongers roaming freely without any fear for law & order since they know very well that their poster fathers are now in power and they will never stop them. This is the beginning of many such well planned disturbances which may turn violent like this one by BJP\RSS using their splinter groups to destabilize the atmosphere.
If the Congress Govt. does not show strong will to curb these goondas from disturbing the peace of the State, they will rue for not taking action when they should have.
By "Hook or Crook" they want to win Karnataka which they had lost. BSY unnecessarily agitating in the north Districts.
Congress like during the Assembly election, instead of countering BJP\RSS moves are keeping quiet.
Then it will be too late.
Tell people loud and clear, now itself, how these people are against peace and development. Be vocal of your developments and future such plans. Let the people of the State know what you are doing.
BJP at the center is only talking but not doing anything to benefit the people of the country. 101 promises which they just can not deliver. Make this clear to the people of Karnataka loud and clear.
    Do not regret later.

bjp does not need any riotr to win elections.bjp won 17 seats and cong just 9 seats in prev ls elections.

whole karnataka knows what sort of troubles were given to bs yedurappa during bjp rule in karnataka and
what sort of riots were stage managed so that his govt is made to fall.
not to forget the enormous cooperation by the then governor and central govt.

that shows yedurappas might in karnataka

for bjp to win in karnataka is a cake walk in coming assembly elections
as modi, shah, yedurappa and ramulu will be more than handy for any opposition parties.

What appeasement is that...In all of these communal incidents there is clear hand of bjp supporting bigotry elements ....

Ever wondered why there is a labor crisis in udupi and mangalore and why businesses have to get out of state people to work in construction and hospitality industries? Its because south kanara people have no motivation to do physical work, when they can get paid basic wages to roam around in saffron lungi and collect haftha from business folk.

None of the culture felt, it is in danger,

it is observed that, first the group of people will create a problem, then the against party want to take reaction against those group. at that time govt will come into picture & take action against those who want to take a reaction. in between the first group will able to get the protection from the Politian/govt. this is applicable for all the incident which was created by whoever may be. so the govt should take strict action against those who are creating a problem in the society. then there should not be any reaction. the above is applicable for all the cases whether it is hindu/muslim/Christian.... govt should wake up & take strict action & it should not allow local Politian to interfere.

    Lots of questions are raised.
1)Pilgrims are damaging the under construction road. Why action was not taken?
    2) People who attacked the pilgrims by taking law into their hands. Why action was not taken?
    3) When the procession was planned any precautionary measures are taken by the Police for extreme situations?
    4) Who pelted the stones? At least by looking at the direction of stone flow, police can judge it. Commonsense.
    5) For political milage was it allowed to reach to the dangerous stage as you see today?
    6) Those commentators who blame BJP, why they are silent on Congress which is ruling the state?

Congress used these policies for the last 65 years effectively which is borrowed from British. Devide and Rule.
We need to remove the words majority and minority from our constitution and identify us all as Indians.
Congress is no better than any other party in fact it is worst.
I think congress is enjoying last few months of power before it disappears.

most of the organizations/outfits belonging to some communities, are creating problems in society and spreading hatred, instead of developing their own community or helping needy from their own community.

Greedy leaders push innocent youths to commit anti-social activities & sit in press conference & show off, but the same leaders will not extend their helping hand, if the youth (or their family members), whom they used for their benefit fall critically ill & is in financial problem.

If the so called sage Rajashekarananda Swamiji saiys "I being a Swami join in this protest and extend my support. Today the police have imposed Section 144, but where were they when Hindus were attacked? then what you expect from the jobless people who might come for free bus ride and free goodies.
Do we expect that our DK people so rich that they can stop working one Monday and afford a protest against 144 areas.
First of all the theory itself is hard to believe that the devotees in the Bus were attacked.
But where is the protest against the police along with BD who attacked and ransacked houses of innocent Muslims?
I am not supporting voilence, but I cannot believe that Muslims will simply throw stones at a moving bus.
If at all so called innocents bus was stop for a nature call then there could be a provocation might have sparked the incident.
Why you want us to believe that a minority that is less than 20% of compared to your majority will simply pelt stones at you.
The bottom line is, your NAMO brigade want to be active, your Chaddi army want to do a road show, and your alliances with differences want to join on one stage, thus you plan the next assembly election.
You were expecting to feel like super cop after Modi come to power and nothing such happend,so you people are desperate to grab attention of the central government.

Is it we are in Independent India or still under Kings or British.. Really now a days, our Mangalore become a Religious ground to play with blood & no-violence.. We are living in between dumb-deaf.. Educational District behave like uneducated idiots.. None of any religious group thinking about development of our District or no one ready to work for Poor or Roadside people.. We are only like to work for vehicle cows, because we are highlighting in media na.. All we want publicity, there is no humanity.. In between we also have some Shepard, who really willing to work for public.. Hats of for them..

The goons who attacked unarmed pilgrims should go to Kashmir and face Pakistan sponsored Islamic terrorists who kill our brave soldiers!!

    Albert?

Dont runaway from the facts and try to divert the subject. No one has the right to destroy the public property. Let the law take its own course. The police already exhibited its brutality and detained those who pelted stones on pilgrims. you are openly defended the terror here.
BTW why you scared revealing your true identity.

Really sad to see people fighting in the name of religion and harming others when all religions teach the same principle of living in peace and harmony. These people who harm others do not belong to any religion they are just Satans! Humanity is a prime religion in itself. Please don't spoil the peace of our country... there are already terrorists who are doing that. God please open the eyes of such people who are fighting for you but in turn causing you pain & harm.

    Maria,

Religions never have taught to live in peace and harmony. I dont know from were you that idea from. Pleple have always killed each other in the name of religion. As long as religions exist you will not see the end of violence.

    Zeitgeist, Mangalore,
Being a Hindu and with a little knowledge about Christianity, I have never come across any scriptures which preach violence. ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbakam’(All world is one Family) and ‘Sarvejana Sukhino Bhavanthu’(Let everyone be happy and prosperous) are the core motto of Hinduism. Luke 6.29 says "Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either.” Mathews also says the same in verse 5.39.
I really wonder how a Zeitgeist could be influenced by Taliban, Al Queida and ISIL!

No doubt, all religions preach peace and harmony. But, few people misuse it. Of course, sometimes, to secure peace, we have to take some hard decisions. In our neibouring state, I found many people, who do not believe in God or religion. Do you think that they are not involved in crimes. There were many murders, due to political rivalry.

Religions never teach anyone to protect itself or its concept of God by killing others who doesn't subscribe to their idea.
Its those who interpret the scriptures to instigate devout followers to take up arms & violate Human Rights cause these hatred & attack others in the name of religion.
Radical elements want chaos & violence to sustain themselves who use heads of religion to propagate hatred as we see in this instance.
Hell is their Destination by violating God's will & wisdom.

    Shankar, Ismail and Dev,

Religion has and always will help in anyway to bring misery on humanity. Please ready history and you will know.

Good people do good things and bad people will do bad things. But for good people to do bad things, it takes a religion.
