Kundapur, Dec 8: R Roshan Baig, the information and infrastructure development minister of Karnataka government on Sunday December 7 requested the Gangolli residents not to listen to people who have the mentality and habit of spreading wrong information to create communal unrest in the area. He asked them to maintain peace.

Baig was speaking to media persons after his meeting with Muslim leaders at the tourist bungalow of the forest department, where he had stopped on his way to Bhatkal.

“The messages are sent using mobile phones and social media. This social evil is a threat to the communal harmony of the land. We have already spoken to the central government regarding this evil. I will talk to Arun Jaitley, the central minister about the controlled use of these facilities,” Roshan Baig said.

The delegation of Muslim leaders who met the minister included Naqwa Yahya Malpe, the president of Udupi Wakf committee, A K Saheb, the president of Kundapur taluk Wakf committee, G M Irshad, the president of Jamath-e-Muslimeen from Gangolli and its secretary H Abdulla, Taufeek Gangolli from Udupi district APCR and the priest Ubedulla Abubakar Nadvi. The delegation briefed the minister about the recent developments in Gangolli.

The delegation told the minister that the religious harmony maintained for centuries has been disturbed. "The investigations have been hampered by pressure tactics. The investigation has to focus on scientific reports without any outside influence. The culprit should be punished without any fear and favour. The persons affected by the fire should be consoled instead of being subjected to more mental harassment," they urged.

The minister who listened to the delegation asked the leaders to help maintain peace. He requested them to tell the youth not to listen to rumours. He promised that the compensation package to the victims and the measures to maintain peace will be discussed with the chief minister, home minister and district incharge minister.

Baig told the delegation that if they come to Belagavi during the winter session, they will be given audience with the authorities concerned to find a solution for their demands.

Assistant commissioner Charulatha Somal, Tahasildar Gayathri Nayak and circle inspector Divakar P M were present during the interaction of the minister with the press.

I appreciate the fact that Roshan Baig is trying to refrain his community member from escalating violence.

Now i wish that the respective Swami's too would do something constructive instead of joining hands with Bajrang Dal and worsening the situation.

Is this Congress Govt only for one particular community? He should remember that he is Govt Minister not a particular community leader. Why he did not meet & listen to the other side too? This is what Secular means? This is the reason why young educated people hate Congress & it's policies.

Yes Shettare,, I agree with you on this point only....this minister has done a blunder by not meeting the beedis and cigarettes. Since the minister represents all section, he should hear/ meet all...

Yesterday I learnt one new thing from you....If there is loss of live stock, we have to report the theft / loss to BD and VHP offices... So they are above the law and Police is just to watch...
In future LIE DETECTORS HAVE TO BE USED EXTENSIVELY....to find out the TRUTH

    Bhatre,
he is not just MLA, he is minister of the state, by the way muslims delegation went to meet him like wise HJV,BD people should have met him and he should not have dared to reject them, but the irony is the MP of gangolli Mr. Yeddi came to see only one community and let the place even not visiting the jamiya complex and you were mum on this.Does we forgot that 90% of us has a close friends from either community.

It seems that your memory power is very weak....Even though he is the MLA of some other area, he is the minister, and he has the power to visit every nook and corner of Karnataka.......up date your knowledge.

We would have appreciated the efforts of Roshan Baig, being the Information and Infrastructure Development Minister of Karnataka government for all section of the people had he tried to meet the other Community Leaders too. Because trouble started between two communities just due to lack of trust between them. And now as I said before people started coming down from Bangalore as well too

Shettre, he did not go to them they came to him while his brief stay at forest guest house and if the other community delegation also comes if it is together with the intention of reconciliation he will not dare to reject them, but whats happening is some leaders who has done nothing during when they are in power for the other community trying to polarize them for their own vote bank.
