Mangaluru: St Aloysius alumni take up 'Save a Cigarette!' awareness campaign

Mangaluru, Dec 8: As part of the 'Tobacco-free Mangalore' campaign, the alumni (Standard X 1993-94) of St Aloysius High School are organizing 'Save A Cigarette!' social awareness programme on December 13 at St Aloysius High School auditorium at 9 am.

The event will be inaugurated by Dr Sharanappa, superintendent of police and will be presided over by Fr Denzil Lobo, rector, St Aloysius College.











The highlight of the presentation would be a talk on 'Cancer prevention and tobacco connection', by Dr Vishal Rao, consultant oncologist – head and neck surgeon, Fortis Hospital, Bengaluru (alumni, Std X 1993-94). The talk will be attended by over 750 students from 8th, 9th and 10th standards.

As part of the campaign a poster competition was held on the Sunday December 7, in which as many as 72 students eagerly participated. Gift vouchers worth Rs 9,000 were given to the winners.
