Bengaluru: Gym instructor follows lady, stabs her, slices own throat

Bengaluru, Dec 9: In an incident which occurred at OMBR Lay Out near Ramamuthynagar in the city on Monday December 8, a Gym instructor followed a lady going to school to pick up her child, stabbed her with a knife, and thereafter sliced his own throat. Both were admitted into hospital in critical condition.

The woman has been identified as Manjula (27) from Kasturinagar here, while the attacker was Stephen alias Antony (24), a resident of Jeevanbima Nagar and a gym instructor by profession. While Manjula, who was married six years back, lives with husband and child, Antony was working as instructor in a Gym that was frequented by Manjuna till a few months back, it is said.

A case about the incident stands registered in Ramamurthynagar station here. Manjula, who is admitted into a private hospital, remains unconscious, but the condition of Antony, who was admitted into Bowring Hospital, is more serious, it is gathered.

It is learnt that Manjula, who was going to school on Monday afternoon to bring her child in a two -wheeler, was followed in a motor bike by Antony. He intercepted her at OMBR Lay out and talked to her animatedly for sometime, onlookers said. Thereafter, he chased Manjula with a knife in hand, when she ran into the compound of a nearby house. After stabbing her at different parts of her body, he tried to slice his own throat. Both of them were lying in pools of blood. Both were shifted to hospitals by locals, it is gathered.

The policemen said they are yet to gather enough details and what was the reason for the crime, as both are unconscious. They hope to gather details from the two once they regain consciousness.
