Mangaluru: White Doves to spread Christmas spirit with Mobile Act

Mangaluru, Dec 9: White Doves NGO is all set to spread the spirit of Christmas around the city with its annual street show titled '2014-year-old Fact in a Mobile Act', to be held for four days from December 11 to 14.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday December 9, founder president of White Doves Corrine Rasquinha said, "The spirit of Christmas in Mangaluru will be lighted with the White Doves street shows titled '2014-year-old Fact in a Mobile Act'. For the 20th year in a row, the White Doves NGO has involved in taking care of the destitutes, running two homes here in Mangaluru with over 114 inmates all picked up from the streets of the city irrespective of their caste, religion or creed.

"White Doves will be staging its street plays as we approach the Christmas season in and around Mangaluru. These shows in song and act bring together over 135 artistes from varied backgrounds to pool in their talents. These shows have been drawing huge crowds and are well appreciated by the general public. Each year the people look forward to the uniqueness of the shows. The actors range from a 40-day-old baby to a 65-year-old man," she said.


This year the mobile shows will be performed at the following places:

Thursday December 11 at 7 pm - Fr Muller's grounds Mangaluru
Friday December 12 at 6.30 pm - United Mission Jubilee Church grounds, Udupi
Saturday December 13 at 6.30 pm - St Francis Xavier School grounds, Kolalagiri
Sunday December 14 at 6 pm - Nehru Maidan and 8 pm at Padua School grounds, Mangaluru

The shows are of one-and-half-hour duration and free of charge.

    I had a chance to see this show,and it was an excellent & superb. I think every one in the Dove team knows that they have given an opportunity to exhibit their talent, hence they perform extremely well and the show becomes better & better every year.Mobile show definitely is not an easy task one can only understand when you see the entire settings of the show are dismantled & assembled in front of the audience in no time.I wish the organizers and their entire team a great success this time.One suggestion to the president of White Doves Corrine Rasquinha Your white dove shows are at only city limits,It would be nice if you extend them towards the rural areas as well.

    December is the most awaited month for everyone. The Joy of Christmas is filled in every part of Mangalore with this Mobile act. Being an audience when I was a kid, it was so thrilling to see a big gang of performers entering the venue at an exact said time. The whole awaited crowd (irrespective of caste & religion) screams out of joy by welcoming the artists to perform .The Santa Claus makes every single person to jaw and sustain each one's smile by shaking the big belly & the booty to the mellifluous Christmas music played live. The Christmas Carols, the play, the Angel dances, The Polka dances, The Santa's crew etc the wholesome entertainment ends up within a wink of an eye although it is of 1.5 Hours and makes one more curious to wait for the next show in the preceding year. As I grew up, I got an opportunity to be a part of this Show for couple of years. The several efforts are made from months together to make the mobile show to be a breathtaking performance. Managing a program in a well organized manner by controlling the crowd, at the same time entertaining, isn't an easy task at all. Amount of preparations made behind the success of these mobile acts from the past 20 years is truly astonishing.

    You've been an Angel for Mangalore. God Bless your core-committee, the management and all the inmates of your organization. May you continue to do the best of what is possible with the Grace of God. Hats-Off to you all.
