Railways April-November earnings up 12.63 percent


New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS): The Indian Railways Tuesday reported a 12.63 percent increase in earnings during April-November this fiscal at Rs.100,622 crore -- up from Rs.89,341.26 crore during the corresponding period last year.

The Railways said its total earnings from ferrying during the period under review rose by 11.62 percent at Rs.67,130.96 crore from Rs.60,144.16 crore during the like period of last fiscal.

"Total revenue earnings from passengers were Rs.28,510.24 crore compared to Rs.24,523.71 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 16.26 percent," the railways said in a statement.

However, total passengers booked during the period stood at 5,581.33 million from 5,662.54 million representing a decline of 1.43 percent.
