Mangaluru: Man attacked with weapons, tension grips Krishnapura

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 10: A person was attacked near Krishnapura, Suratkal, on Tuesday December 9 night, spreading tension in the area. As a result of this incident, panic spread and people gathered at several strategic spots. The police resorted to caning to disperse the crowds for controlling the situation.

Arif (30), a resident of Krishnapura 4th block, was walking towards his home after alighting from a bus at around 8.30 pm on Tuesday, when three persons riding a motor bike swung sharp weapons at him, and escaped after inflicting serious injuries. Additional police personnel had been deployed in the area after the Ulaibettu disturbances.

Immediately after the police came to know about the attack, they conducted operations the same night, and took into custody an accused who reportedly was involved with the attack from Madhya village near Suratkal.

Soon after the news of attack on youth spread, people started gathering at Katipalla, Chokkabettu etc. Additional forces were rushed to the spot, and police caned the crowds to disperse them. Leaders from various social fields also came on the scene and helped the police in maintaining law and order.

After the incident got wide publicity through social media and rumours, people came out of their houses and formed crowds at Chokkabettu, Krishnapura, Katipalla, Ganeshpura etc. A team led by police commissioner, R Hitendra, reached he area. The team succeeded in sending the people back to their homes in some places by convincing them to do so, whereas in some others, they had to resort to caning.

It is learnt that Arif was not keeping good health. Hitendra said that he will camp in Suratkal to ensure that such incidents do not recur. He also said that the situation is in control, duly adding that the situation would be monitored closely, and if necessary, section 144 would be clamped. As police personnel in sufficient numbers has been deployed everywhere, it is felt that law and order situation will not worsen.

Everybody batting for their religion but nobody interested in truths! it seems that police and concerned authorities are like spectators. people are here to create and break the laws. I think, In this democratic country the government should stop the gatherings or biased public speeches that cause hatred among the people. stop it weather Hindus, Muslims, Christians..whoever its.. They have Mosques, Temples , and the churches...let them to the things there. Public speeches should be useful for the public irrespective of religion, colour, caste, and various groups in the religion. If the government is not taking the proper action, in future India will be hell for our offspring!!!

Piligrims have to behave like true devotees. Why did they shout anti muslim slogans and when there was objection for their shouting, why did they throw stones on mosque and near by shops? What was their intention? When muslims retaliated they ran away and did spread rumors that were attacked by muslims. No sword was used while fighting but the fact that piligrims themselves were carrying swords with them and it is their practice to provoke muslims and pelting stones on mosques every time when they make their enjoy trip to datta peeta. Now some of HJV,HIV, BD and Cigerate leaders posing themselves as big leaders to draw attention of BJP top management to consider them as next MLA, MP's. Who carried people to Ulai bettu on 8th despite 144 section. Government has to note all these criminals and form a encounter police team to finish these anti social elements who are always a big burden to our peace loving soceity.

Presently , this forum is making sense in term of individual indifference's, being a part of this country and this city I being a Hindu not found any excuse of any of my Muslim friends or colleagues creating any sort of problem for the reason to unrest in this city . People from other places who are not in mlore its really pointless to discuss or point at the problems which we face here together . Though i am a part of mlore i am with the people around . So unrest is within us for not being able to rectify things in a peaceful manner , Left wing or Right wing , Hindu or Muslim . Any of this from a poor to rich or educated or uneducated . Is really not making a difference to incidents happening . Cause we the people of Mangalore believe in peace and any of the Hate mongers out there don't rely on good Beat its Hindu or Muslim . It really doesn't make a difference what all of you are typing in this forums cause these comments are washed out as time passes . So I would really request all my friends in the forum or in mangalore . Please don't point out at each other rather fix the problem by making one good deed by spreading the msg of friendship like every living mangalorean is been doing beat he is Hindu or Muslim , Rich or Poor , Educated or Uneducated . Thank you .

My heart bleeds for my Mangalore. We never had any such problem during our school going days years back when students of all communities used to mingle freely with the others. Never did the thought of being a Muslim or a Hindu or a Christian enter our minds. Even today I have friends belonging to other communities and it pains to see people of one God fight in the name of religion.

Unfortunately, things have changed now. The seeds of hatred and differentiation are sown in the temples, mosques and the Churches. Whether we admit this or not, this is a fact. Our religious leaders have started favouring people from their own religion. And why is this happening? Who is to blame for this? It is, without an iota of doubt, the politicians. They do not want the people to live in peace. Believe me, they are not at all interested in the welfare of the country. Their only interest is to retain their seats. This can be easily done by driving a wedge between the people. The politicians are the real enemies of the country. And when we have such enemies in our midst, do we need adversaries from outside?

People from all communities should bear this in mind and should not fall prey to the hate speeches delivered by the so called leaders of their religion.
We should not lose sight of the fact that we are the ones who have to live peacefully in our society. The politician will get all the protection from the Government, but who will protect us?

And one more thing, my friends. Has anyone realised why the people spearhead all these protests? They are not doing it for the love of their religion. They are doing it so that their bosses notice them and pick them in the Government. Today's thugs will be tomorrow's MLAs or MPs. They will be our so called leaders tomorrow. The cops also know that very well and that is why they will never incur their displeasure. Creating tension amongst people is the way they earn their living. That is why politics is the last refuge of scoundrels.

Why dept afraid to arrest the goons.
By the support of some communal leaders, these goons fueling from last SIX months. Mangaloreans must stand together and kick them out of our surroundings. In this advanced technology, department can easily trace out all communal leaders pre-plan telecom. But our police dept still not ready to ? ? ?. Now if any frowardness start that will be epicenter will be from Surathkal surroundings. All we Manglaoreans aware and last mandate went against him for his communal mind.

Ultimately by disturbing peace in m'lore, the parivar group make peace loving Hindus migrate the city and settle elsewhere. Can any body expect an educated noble hindu choose to have their residence in such troubled/disturbing areas (ulaibettu or krishnapura or katipalla).
If any one make a clear face reading of some or majority of the protesters it is evident that they are just protesting (or rather terrorizing) for the sake of it without any objectivity. The upper class Hindu society using them to full fill their political ambition in the name of religion. I feel, going forward, city may be filled with thugs with no job but to attack innocent citizens & create tension to fulfill their ends meet.

I remember when we were small we used to visit each others house during festival enjoy & have fun , but why there is negative thoughts now. Please guys try to maintain peace & believe me Mangalore will blossom again.Hatred will lead to destruction which we are surely not looking for. Please think over it. Dear Sis,
You are right. There was much peace and harmony earlier which is fast vanishing now. The real reason for this is that we have too many jobless youth with nothing to do. As such they tend to get involved in various anti-social activities. The population growth rate needs to be curbed and employment opportunities needs to be generated for the youth. Otherwise various anti-social activities will increase.

The bottom line is that these thousands of jobless hooligans get paid for creating unrest.
