Bengaluru, Dec 10: The Regional Passport Office in Bengaluru will be organising passport melas at the passport seva kendras at Mangaluru and Bengaluru’s Lalbagh and Sai Arcade to expedite the application process in view of the high demand for passports on Saturday, December 6 from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Appointment slots have been given to 2600 passport seekers on December 4 to register for passport melas.

While 2200 appointments were given for normal category for PSKs of Lalbagh, Sai Arcade and Mangaluru while 400 tatkaal appointments for Lalbagh Road PSK and Sai Aarcade PSK were released.

Applicants were requested to register online for the passport mela on passport portal www.passportindia.gov.in.

The Passport Mela was announced to ease the rush of applicants.

A number of other assertive steps such as conducting Passport Camps at district headquarters of Karwar, Mysuru and Belagavi; elongated appointment cycle, incentivizing police to submit verification reports within 21 days, increasing daily appointment slots, launch of mPassportSeva App on Windows and Apple platforms, premium SMS service (optional) etc. were also taken by the authorities to make passport application process hassle-free for citizens.

Applicants under normal and tatkaal category were allowed to apply in the mela on prior appointment basis, while walk-ins including On-Hold and Refused Tokens of previous 3 working days (T 3 Facility) were not entertained.

Applicants can easily keep a track of their passport application by checking the status online using their File Number and Date of Birth on the Passport Seva portal.

Apart from the 2 PSKs of Bengaluru, the Passport Mela was also held in Mangalore PSK.

The Regional Passport Office, Bengaluru have been conducting such Passport Melas’ from time to time in order to ease the rush for passport services in the State.
