Additional award for Kannada films at BIFFES

Bengaluru, Dec 10: An additional award for Kannada films will be given by the international jury of the 7th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES), which will be concluding on Thrusday.

Giving details about the closing ceremony and awards on Wednesday, Vidyashankar, Artistic Director, 7th BIFFES, said three Indian films and one film from the Asia region apart from the additional award for Kannada films will also be awarded.

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Rudrabhai Vala will be the chief guest for the closing ceremony of the week-long film festival on Thursday, along with actor Puneet Rajkumar.

Director of Kannada film Haggada Kone, Dayal Padmanabhan, who spoke at the media interaction on Tuesday, said the film is his tenth venture and described it as a "bridge cinema".The movie, based on a play by Kannada writer late Parvathavaani.

Padmanabhan has adapted this 25-minute play into an hour and half film. He said the film will be released next week at 24 multiplexes.

S Krishna, Director of Gajakesari, which is part of the Kannada Cinema Competition, is making his directorial debut through this film. He is known for his cinematography work, particularly in films like Mungaaru Male, Kempegowda and Geleya.

Mahantesh Ramdurg, director of Agasi Parlour, shared his experiences on difficulties of finding producers.

S Mohan, actor and director of Sachin Tendulkar Alla, said the film was his fourth directorial venture and is based on a personal experience with a relative, who had an autistic child and led to lot of skirmishes and inhibitions in the family. The child died at the age of 16.

In order to achieve his objective, Mohan said he decided to use cricket as the backdrop to combine art and commerce.

Venkatachala, Director, Chitra Mandiradalli, which is being screened under “Recommended Screenings’’ started his career as director of television serials and documentaries.
