Udupi, Dec 11: A month long awareness campaign organized by the Students’ Islamic Organization (SIO) of India, Udupi, in association with Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, was inaugurated by Jayaprakash Hegde, former MP, on Wednesday December 10, at Hotel Durga International, here.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “There is a need to know our goals and objectives and todays’ youth need guidelines to run a smooth life. The alcohol control is a big contribution to society.”
P V Bhandary, director, Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, spoke on the topic, ‘Where am Heading? A Critical Review of My Lifestyle’. In his address said, “Teenage is a different period from 13 years to 19 years. Children’s thoughts are rebellious and alcohol is a social lubricant. At this age, children will get misled by friends due to pressure.”
He pointed out three pressures—pressure to perform, pressure to reform, and pressure to conform. He claimed that schools and colleges are becoming a scoring mark-oriented factory.
“Addiction can be controlled through the 3As—awareness, analyze, and action. Success is journey not a destination,” he stressed.
He concluded by giving tips to success such as the 5Ds—dream (desire), discipline, determination, dedication, and determination.
The organization plans to have many constructive and awareness creative programmes such as conducting ‘Jatha’, cycle rally, street play, and so on.
Mohammed Idrees, member, Kemmannu village panchayat, Zakriya, secretary, district SIO, and others were present.
