Mangaluru: Assault on cattle traffickers - five arrested

Mangaluru, Dec 11: Out of 25 persons who reportedly assaulted some persons who were accused of stealing and illegally transporting cattle near Belalu in the taluk, the policemen succeeded in arresting five on Wednesday December 10.

Shashidhar Gowda (23) from Kundalike in Belalu, Giriyappa Gowda (38) from Belalu Arippade House, Manjunath Achary (19) from Belalu Mundal House, Yogeesh Gowda (26) of Belalu Idilengi House, and Surulimane Vasantha (24), were the arrested persons.

Hindu organizations will be organizing a procession from Beltangady Santhekatte to Police Ground on Thursday, ending with a protest meeting. They have alleged that cases have been registered against innocent persons relating to the case in which cows from Belalu were being stolen and taken to slaughterhouses.

    You prove that they were stolen and not sold.
    Selling cows and then branding as stolen is a double game being played by some.
    Purchased cattle have to be transported if the destination place is far away. There are no cattle carriers available and the it is not economical to use them for few cattle, as such locally they use tempos or trucks.
    This the groups claim it is inhumane to transport in such a way. Have they ever seen how buffaloes\cows are carried from one point to another by ship's\small sea going boats?. if you see that, you will be more than happy the way locals here transport the cattle.
    This is nothing but troubling the purchasers by some jobless g......
    Punish these attackers as they themselves have broken the law.
