Kundapur, Dec 11: "Peace is possible only through love and harmony. Only when we move away from hatred and vengeance can we live a harmonious life which will lead to happiness in society," Balkhees Banu, chairperson of Karnataka Minorities Commission said on Wednesday, December 11 in Kundapur.

Banu was speaking after meeting the delegation of Muslim leaders at the forest department's visitors bungalow and after distributing compensation cheques to the Gangolli Jamiya complex fire victims.

"I have discussed with the Muslim leaders about the unfortunate events which transpired at Gangolli. A report on the same will be submitted to the government soon. The victims of the fire incident have been given Rs 25,000 each as compensation. We are aware that it will not make up the losses sustained. We will talk to the chief minister to hike the compensation," she added.

"Every person has rights. Everyone has the right to live and everyone also deserves to be heard. Others too should acknowledge this. I appreciate the work done by the district administration and police during the unrest in Gangolli. Now the police department has to apprehend the culprits and take stern action against them," Banu concluded.

Wakf board committee president Nakwa Yahya, assistant commissioner Charulatha Somal. Kundapur tahsildar Gayathri Nayak, circle inspector P M Divakar, Ibrahim Kota, A K Saheb, G M Irshad, H Abdulla, Taufiq Gangolli and the cleric Ubedulla Aboobakar Nadvi were present.

    Rightly said Mr Sampath,

    1. Why should the money be distributed ?.
    2. The money distributed is a public money paid in the form of taxes.
    3. Do these are the real victims of this incident?
    4. if you really want to pay the compensation then instead of paying the money from State Exchequer/ collect it from the Culprits as penalty for the damage and pay to the victims and Why should I have to pay for the no fault of mine

Could you please let us know how to recover compensation amount from culprits as you people do not allow police to do their job. Upon arrest of culprit, you people protest, and call for band to release the culprits. Give liberty to police to do their job fairly, and let law of the land decide and punish the people responsible for the incident and recover the losses.
