Supreme Court issues interim stay on Made Snana

New Delhi, Dec 12: The Supreme Court on Friday December 12 issued an interim stay on the practice of Made Snana in Karnataka temples.

The Karnataka High Court on November 19 had allowed continuation of Made Snana at Kukke Subramanya Temple in Dakshina Kannada till the court decided the constitutional validity of the practice.

Aadivasi Budakattu Hitarakshana Samiti had approached the Supreme Court against the high court order.

The Court refused to buy the argument made by respondents that Made Snana should continue as it has been practiced for more than 500 years. The court opined that it was not a valid argument. It observed that just as untouchability cannot be allowed simply because it has been prevalent for centuries, Made Snana too cannot be allowed.

The Karnataka high court had passed the interim order on a review petition filed by some of the employees of the temple questioning the modification of the ritual with 'Yede Snana'. The court had also stayed its 2012 order in which it had given its consent to the modified form of the ritual as proposed by the then government.

God created every human beings are equal. This tradition might have been started by upper caste hindus to prove that they are superior to others.SC has done the right thing by banning it. Hope they will ban it permanently as its in the best interest of society.

Nothing was invented by Bhramins who were always in minority time memorial. check the facts. What would a bhramin get if Umeshchandra, Mangalore rolls over their leftover food. Customs and traditions in all communities were set in due to weak and suspicious minds.
