Udupi: State-level Kobudo Budokan karate championship inaugurated

Udupi, Dec 14: The inauguration of 9th State Level Karate Championship-2014 was held on Saturday December 13 at Rajangana, Shri Krishna Math, Udupi here.

The event was organized by Kobudo Budokan Karate, Udupi (affiliated to Karate Budokan International Australia).







Vidyavallabhatheertha Swamiji, Paryaya Kaniyur Math Udupi, said after the inauguration that, "Karate is very important for leading an independent life. Karate is meant for protection and self defense. Now-a-days violence against women is increasing day by day. This is an opportunity to express their capacity through the competition."

The first phase for selection was held on December 13. Nearly 1000 children from various places participated in the championship.

Shihan Ravi Kumar, Udyavar addressed the audience. Ramesh Shetty, founder of Auto-Union of Udupi District was felicitated by the organization.

The chief guests for the events were P Yuvaraj, president of CMC, Sunitha Nayak, Taluk Panchayat president, Nityananda Kemmannu, Laxmi Narayana Acharya, KT Rai, deputy manager Syndicate Bank, Manipal and Sensay Vaman Palan.

Santhosh Suvarna compered the event.
