Mangaluru, Dec 15: With only two Sundays to go for Christmas, it is not easy to gather crowd for any event as everyone is busy attending one or the other event. Kevin Misquith managed to get a good crowd. The best thing was, he got the right crowd in his hardcore fans. And he did not fail to steal their hearts. This was evident by seeing the participation of the crowd in Kevin Misquith’s 30th musical nite held on Sunday December 14 at Rosario hall.

Kevin started his 30th nite with a solo song. The show featured old as well as new compositions of Kevin Misquith with the band Milestone scoring the pleasing music. The singers and musicians included Jackson Noronha, Clyde Lobo, Ashwin Sequeira, Rikith Soans, Royston Pinto and Ian Sachin from the regular team with the addition of Clement Fernandes and Munita Veigas.

'Pokri Kalakars' with the performance by Blazie Monteiro and Floyd D’Mello performed comedy acts to send the crowd into laughter in between the show.

Gavin Rodrigues and his Silver Steppers added glitz to the evening with their scintillating dance numbers.

A brief stage programme was held to felicitate the main sponsors and for the launch of a book published by J J Publications.

The book on health and beauty tips titled ‘Bhalaykechim ani Sobhayechim voktham’ written by Gladys Quadras Permude was released by Fr Rocky Fernandes from Rosario College.

Fr Rocky Fernandes congratulated Kevin Misquith, Gladys Quadras and Stephen Quadras and wished them all success.

Jerry Rodrigues, proprietor of J J Publications was present during the release of the book. The book is a collection of tips of health and beauty. The book also includes chapters on pregnancy care and childcare.

All the dignitaries spoke for few minutes each with important and relevant words.

J R Lobo, the MLA congratulated Kevin for his special achievement of reaching the 30 nite milestone while he was still very young “I am sure that you will break many records before you turn 50,” he said.

Lobo also praised Stephen Quadras for his social work and remembered the days in social service together at CODP.

Elias Sanctis, a philanthropist narrated a small story of Rabindranath Tagore and said “I appreciate Kevin’s talent which he is sharing with others by entertaining them.”

Pascal B Pinto, a well known social worker wished all the best to Kevin in his future endeavours

Lancy Madtha, a NRE entrepreneur and musician expressed his pleasure of witnessing Kevin Misquith’s nite.

Fr J B Crasta, parish priest of Rosario Cathedral, praised Kevin for his talents and said that he was happy to see the music show hosted at Rosario Cathedral hall.

As promised earlier, Kevin Misquith presented a cheque amounting Rs. 1 lac to Stephen Quadras of Pathadarshini Seva Trust.

Pathadarshini Seva Trust headed by Quadras is involved in helping the deserving students in their higher education.

The best moments of the show came in the form tributes to legends of Konkani who have departed. The whole team of the nite in a mini concert presented few lines of best songs of the legends.

Mick Max was presented with his popular song ‘Thuje the sobith dhon dhole’, Chris Perry with the evergreen song ‘Bom Jezuchya re koventhanth’ Henry T D’Souza with all time hit ‘Juliana’ and Konkan Kogull Wilfy Rebimbus with his masterpiece ‘Mog thuzo kithlo ashelo’ from the film ‘Mog ani maypas’.

“There are many stars in Konkani sky, but only one moon. And that is Wilfy Rebimbus” said Kevin paying tribute to Konkan Kogull Wilfy Rebimbus with emotions.

A rich tribute was also paid to renowned Konkani poet, Konkani Sahithya Academy award winner Melvyn Rodrigues by performing ‘Pavle’ a composition penned by him.
