Mangaluru, Dec 17: Suratkal police, who have arrested two persons relating to an assault on a person at Katipalla, produced them in the court here on Tuesday December 16.

The arrested accused have been identified as Milton Pinto (21) and Dhanush (21), both from Katipalla.

A person named Tauseef from Kana near Katipalla was returning home after attending gym on Thursday night, when the two attacked him with sharp weapons, and inflicted serious injuries. The attackers, who had come in a motor bike, had made good their escape after fulfilling their aim.

The policemen said that this attack was backed by pre-existing enmity and not because of communal hatred. However, relating to this incident, a protest had been organized near the junior college at Krishnapura by local people, treating it as a communally charged incident.

Different groups of people had thereafter blamed one another for this incident.

The police have recovered the sickle and motor bike that were used for this attack. Meanwhile police have revealed that injured Tauseef has been discharged from the hospital after he recovered.
